Drawings

Two nights a week the Old Town Artists in downtown St. Paul hold open drawing sessions. One is a figure drawing session and the other a portrait session. I thought I would post some of my work from the portrait sessions here plus a couple of miscellaneous sketches.

These are from my small sketchbook I carry around. They aren't always drawn from life. Anything will do sometimes from posters to magazine ads etc...if I can catch a real person sitting still long enough, all the better.

These are absolutely beautiful! I am partial to portraits and figures so of course these catch my eye. I love the second on of the older man...you really captured the look of flesh. How long do you have to sketch during your class/club?

Thanks Beverly. The model sits for 2 1/2 hours with a couple breaks thrown in. Probably averages about 2 hours total.

Beautiful work, I really love the sketches. There is a definite freshness about something completed in the moment that is captivating.

You are insanely talented. Do you sell your work? Really beautiful work. I love how the sketches just kind fade away into nothingness... like the figures are dissolving.

Hi Tim,

I just did my first of these life drawing sessions last week, and loved it. I'm now the newest member of Old Town Artists, so I hope to see you there and perhaps learn a little from you; your work is gorgeous.
