Last week, on a lunch break, I took a walk around downtown Minneapolis. It was raining steadily, not hard, but enough to keep people off the streets and in the skyways.
I have enjoyed drawing and painting since I was a young lad growing up on the hard streets of Saint Paul. It wasn't until late 2003 that I found what really grabbed me by the back of the neck and wouldn't let go. Oil painting. Oil painting outside, specifically. Since beginning this journey I have painted still life and cityscapes. I hope to always continue to paint landscapes but look forward to tackling figures and pushing myself in new directions. I'm amazed at the work I see from the painters who are out there doing it. It's a humbling and, at times, infuriating passion that keeps me coming back everyday.
