Last week, on a lunch break, I took a walk around downtown Minneapolis. It was raining steadily, not hard, but enough to keep people off the streets and in the skyways.
I have enjoyed drawing and painting since I was a young lad growing up on the hard streets of Saint Paul. It wasn't until late 2003 that I found what really grabbed me by the back of the neck and wouldn't let go. Oil painting. Oil painting outside, specifically. Since beginning this journey I have painted still life and cityscapes. I hope to always continue to paint landscapes but look forward to tackling figures and pushing myself in new directions. I'm amazed at the work I see from the painters who are out there doing it. It's a humbling and, at times, infuriating passion that keeps me coming back everyday.

Nice one. :) I really like the harmony of this one. :)
Love the overall sense of haunting moodiness and meloncholy you evoked with a cool and muted palette.
Gorgeous painting!
Thanks Jeff. The gray, rainy, scene forced me to push my palette that way.
Jennifer, I like meloncholy. I think that describes the sense I had painting this one for sure. Thanks for taking a look and good luck on your show.
Fantastic Tim. I stumbled across your blog through J. McChristian's. The temperature and composition are fantastic.
Thanks Cooper, glad you came by!

love the sense of atmosphere in this...feeling the air and light!!!
wish I had some clappers to add...!!!
Nice paintings. I'm a fellow daily painter and I was curious if you'd be interested in doing a reciprocal link exchange.
