Oil on panel
Just a quick study of a couple of oranges. I originally had the other half of the peeled orange arranged on the left side but had to scrape it off and restart as I wasn't getting it down how I liked. I scraped it off a second time and decided I liked the composition sitting in the middle of the panel. I painted over the left side and went with it for better or worse.

"On in two"
Unavailable16" x 20"
Oil on stretched canvas
This is a painting I did for my brother-in-law. I put together several elements of golf courses photographed into an image I liked and painted from the resulting photo. It was a lot of fun to be able to control exactly what things I wanted in the composition in this way, though I always prefer to paint on location first it was still a learning experience. This was painted on oil primed cotton canvas.

"Lino field"
Oil on stretched linen
I painted this from a smaller study I did in late September.

I also took some photos of the scene that I used as reference when I decided to expand on the painting. It was so crisp that morning and the colors were very bright and sharp. I'd hoped to capture that morning even more in this larger one.
This was my first time painting on oil primed linen and it's safe to say I'll never go back to cotton. The paint just soaks into the surface so nicely. Next time maybe a rougher texture, but linen from here on out God willing.
Many more posts after the holidays.
